Skinquarter Baptist Church Core Beliefs
Bible
The Bible is the complete, inerrant, and infallible "Word of God": having ALL authority and in ALL matters. 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
The Bible is eternal as stated in Matthew 24:35 and 1Peter 1:25.
God
God is the creator and sustainer of the universe. That God has always existed (Psalm 90:2) and
spoke ALL things into existence as written in Genesis, chapter 1.
God is omnipotent Job 42:2 (All Powerful)
God is omnipresent 1Kings 8:27 (Everywhere at all times)
God is omniscient Psalm 139:1-2 (Knows all)
God is immutable Malachi 3:6 (Never changing)
There is only one God. He exists in three persons, revealing Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
Jesus is the Son of God. He has always existed, taking on human form, being fully God, and fully man. John 1:14, Philippians 2:6-8, 1 Timothy 3:16, John 3:16.
Jesus was sent by God, the Father. He was to live a sinless life on earth, in human form, and to be a propitiation, an atoning sacrifice for the sins of mankind 1 John 2:2.
Jesus was crucified on a cross, buried in a tomb, and raised from the dead three days after His crucifixion. He bore mankind's sin penalty, which in turn, guarantees salvation to those who accept Him as their Savior.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit dwells in ALL believers, and guides ALL believers in their Christian walk. John 14:16,17,20,23,26.
Mankind
Man was created by God from the dust of the earth, and in God's own image. Genesis 1:26.
God created only two genders, male and female. Genesis 1:27. Marriage as established and recognized by God, is to be between one male and one female.
Life begins at conception, God knows us before we are born, making us each individually made. Psalm 139:13-14.
Salvation
Mankind is sinful in nature and lost on his own. Man cannot earn his salvation through works, or pay for his salvation through tithes. Man is not able to live a sinless life or a life acceptable to God which would allow for salvation. Romans 3:10-11, 23. Therefore, salvation is a gift of God by grace and through faith in Jesus. This is the only means of salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23, John 14:6.
